The Ocean Signal PLB1 has Lithium LiMnO2 batteries with a standard operational life of over 24 hours. These batteries are also still operational at temperatures of -20°C.
The 24 hours operational battery life is under defined conditions of storage and test usage.
Is the battery replaceable on the PLB1?Yes. The battery will be replaceable after the expiry period of after the unit has been activated. The battery is not user replaceable, so it must be sent to an authorised service dealer for replacement.
When should I replace my PLB1 battery? The battery should be replaced prior to the expiry date marked on the unit.
However, if the PLB1 has been activated in an emergency, the battery must be exchanged. Even if the PLB1 was activated for a only a short length of time, please be aware that the battery must still be replaced.
The battery must be replaced if the test indicator LED is flashing amber (orange) - to ensure the full 24 hour operational life in an emergency.
